Filling the position of Husky Mascot Handler has been a joy and a blessing for me during my time at the UW. I found the perfect way to show my love and support for this school! As a handler I take Dubs with me to sports events, graduations, UW department parties and even to weddings! (And yes, he was the ring bearer) Dubs is the sweetest pup, and besides the seemingly constant need to dive for popcorn on the ground at basketball games, he was such a pleasure to train and work with! For me, the real challenge was dealing with the people.
This position taught me some some invaluable social skills; how to politely tell people to stop doing something, how to encourage shy and nervous kids to approach something they are scared of, how to get away from a dangerous (AKA drunk) situation quickly and tactfully and, most importantly, how to inspire compassion for animals and instill Husky pride!

We always tried to find dog toys for Dubs that matched the opposing team's mascot. This photo was taken during the 2014 ESPN Game Day blackout game against the Oregon Ducks! The fans loved watching Dubs chomp on the duck, it was a hit!
This is my official handler photo, taken on my first day on the job Freshman Year! I was so jazzed to finally have some time with Dubs!
Taking a break from the baseball game across the street for some snuggles and kisses!
Our first UW basketball game! Go Dawgs!!
Brad was one of my favorite handlers to work with! He was great with Dubs and taught me a lot during my first year as a handler.
Out on the field!! Cold winter game days were the worst for me, but Dubs loved them!
